Askham Hall Weddings: Stately Home and Rustic Barn Photography

Where do I start with Askham Hall weddings?! I absolutely LOVE this place. I did my first shoot there a long while back, before they started “doing” weddings, it was a flower fairy theme and I still love the photos of my little girl running around the grounds looking all ethereal. Since then I’ve shot many, many real weddings there, from tiny elopements to huge celebrations. I’ve also shot commercial work in the restaurant and their pub The Queen’s Head.

I often get asked where my favourite places to shoot are, and Askham is definitely right up there. It just has so much scope for the whole day. Even in bad weather and with the limited light that winter brings you really are spoilt for choice with locations. There are characterful backdrops and little pockets of light everywhere. The gardens are magical – painstakingly planted and maintained but never overly manicured. Both beautiful and wild. I pride myself on pretty much knowing what will pop up where in which season! 

Add to all this one of the NICEST staff teams ever and ridiculously good food and drink and you have a literally perfect wedding venue. They even have a Michelin star, so no need to take my word for it!
