Kinmount House Summer Wedding: Stunning Stately Home Celebration in Dumfries, Scotland
Sarah and Martin chose a Kinmount House Summer Wedding for their big day, and honestly it couldn’t have been more perfect. I’ve shot over 800 weddings, all over the world. Some have been 5 minutes down the road, another was in the depths of the southern Australian rainforest! I’ve got to say, though, Kinmount House is straight up there as one of my new favourites!
As a family, we first came across Kinmount in the summer of 2021. We booked one of their stable cottages on Airbandb as a much needed break from all of the lockdowns. There was a heatwave when we visited and we just had the BEST time. We paddled on (and in!) the lake, cooled off in the pool and walked down to the beach. We fell in love with it straight away and I was so excited when I found out they’d started hosting weddings there. I dreamt of photographing a Kinmount House Summer Wedding. Fast forward to this summer and I found myself doing exactly that!
Sarah and Martin had designed such a beautiful wedding day, with elegant, classic styling and plenty of handmade touches and details. I could have spent a week photographing it and not run out of perfect backdrops for all the shots!
Their ceremony took place in the main house, which we also used for their portraits in the afternoon (it was very bright and hot outdoors at that point). They enjoyed a reception in the Italian Gardens, then down to the Pavilion for speeches and food. After the meal we took a trip down to the lake where they went out in the boat. I was kindly driven about in a quad to meet them at the far end! Next a short walk up to the house via the swing and another fleeting visit to the gardens, before back to the Pavilion for evening celebrations. The band was AMAZING and it was one of my favourite first dances ever!
