Abbey House Wedding Photographer

I’ve been shooting Abbey House Hotel weddings for many years now, they’re always great fun and it’s a lovely venue to work at. Situated on the outskirts of Barrow-in-Furness it’s in the opposite direction to most of the weddings I do in the Lakes. A trip there always feels like a little adventure!

Abbey House Hotel is situated in 14 acres of private woodland and gardens and borders the ruins of Furness Abbey. It is also, very excitingly for me, near enough to Askam for portraits on the beach!!

Before I started shooting weddings at Abbey House, I actually did quite a bit of commercial work there. Photographing their bedrooms, kitchens, cocktails, staff and a styled wedding shoot gave me a great understanding of the venue. There are some seriously lovely pockets of light to be found!

I have to say, Abbey House is one of the best venues I know for managing a high volume of weddings. Like just a handful of others in the Lakes they have more than one bridal suite (of equally high quality!). The venue is also large enough (and with a maze-like layout!) to ensure it always has an exclusive feel.
