Merewood Hotel – 10 Best Places for Wedding Photos

You can read all about my love for this venue on a dedicated blog here but if you’re after a quick run down of 10 of the top places for Merewood Hotel photos then look no further!

1.

The Stairs

Have you even got married at Merewood if you don’t have a shot of the two of you on the stairs?! The lighting is actually quite tricky for photos in this area, but pick a photographer who knows what they’re doing and you’ll have some beautifully grand wedding portraits!

2.

The Library

Whilst the Drawing Room does seem to be the more popular choice for smaller wedding ceremonies, the Library is stunning too. I love the moody feel of this room, especially on a gloomier day.

3.

The Bar

The conservatory bar area at Merewood is just glorious. Floor to ceiling glamour and plenty of natural light flooding in from the windows which look out onto Lake Windermere.

4.

The Drawing Room

Light, airy and stylish, this is the most popular choice for smaller wedding ceremonies at Merewood. It’s nice to pop back in here after your ceremony for a few portraits, particularly if the weather is poor. Lots of couples like to enjoy their post-ceremony afternoon tea in here as well, making the most of the lovely lake views from the picture windows.

5.

The Fountain

The views from the front gardens at Merewood are stunning all year round, and the ornate fountain is always a cute option for some wedding portrait photos.

6.

The Terrace

Merwood’s terrace area is a great option for outdoor ceremonies with a backdrop of the Lake. It also makes a perfect (if sometimes windy!) spot for group photos – or for portraits of just the two of you.

7.

The Driveway

Merewood has an elevated position (good for views and avoiding flooding!) It has a lovely sweeping drive up to the building, and looks particularly gorgeous in autumn when it is lined with golden beech trees.

8.

The Woods

Not only does Merewood have beautiful formal gardens – it also has wild woodland. I particularly like to take couples to the woodland at the back of the hotel during the (short but sweet!) bluebell season.

9.

The Porch

This is the classic choice for your Merewood confetti shots! Not only is it a super pretty ornate porch, but it is also just round the corner from the front aspect of the hotel, which means it is generally fairly sheltered. This makes it a great option for confetti, portraits, group shots and sparkers.

10.

The Classic!

Perhaps not the most creative or unusual choice, but personally I think it’s nice to have a simple, classic photo of the two of you with your venue clearly in shot. Especially when it’s a building as lovely as Merewood!

No.11 Bonus!

Whilst there are plenty of options on site at Merewood for stunning photos, it wouldn’t be right not to mention the locations which are just a short drive away too. If you choose a photographer who knows the area well then they can recommend lakeside and fellside options for additional wild and romantic wedding portraits like these.
