Lakeside Hotel Wedding Photography

I’ve shot many, many weddings at the lovely Lakeside Hotel and Spa over the years. I think that since the Covid Pandemic, however, I’ve got even more of a connection with the place. In between lockdowns, when hotels were still unable to open but I could go out to work, I spent a lot of time here doing commercial photography. I’ll never ever forget how odd the world felt at that time. Suddenly being allowed into a hotel after weeks at home felt very exciting! It also felt so strange though, as the whole place was deserted and so quiet. There were still packets of biscuits on the tea trays in the rooms, neatly placed there for couples whose stays had all been carefully postponed. ANYWAY…!!!!

Lakeside Hotel weddings are ACE. What a great venue this is! At the top end of the lake you’re away from the crazy-busy tourist areas of Bowness and Ambleside and can enjoy some peace and quiet. If you do fancy seeing some other folk (!) then you can hop on a boat for a scenic cruise down the lake, stop off for a bite to eat and a few drinks then cruise on back! I’m a huge fan of Windermere Lake Cruises and their HQ is just across from the hotel. They also have a handy webcam there so I can check the lake conditions before I head out paddleboarding!

The hotel itself is a great old grand building, with all sorts of nice places for indoor photos. Many of the weddings I do at this venue are tiny elopements. These usually take place in one of the private lodges adjacent to the main hotel. Here you have the best of both worlds. A large spa hotel a short walk away but all the privacy you need for an intimate elopement. I’ve done some great weddings here where the couple have married right outside the lodge, we’ve driven up the hill for wild and wet portraits and then I’ve left them back at the hotel ready to enjoy spa treatments, a swim and then back for dinner in their lodge. How good does that wedding day sound?!
