There are many beautiful places for an elopement wedding in the Lake District, but the Gilpin Lakehouse must surely be in the top few.

This venue is so peaceful, stylish and luxurious. You can choose to stay in the Lakehouse itself or just up the road in the main hotel and its Spa Lodges. Either way you can be assured of absolutely top notch hospitality from the Cunliffe family and their fab team.

There are various places at the Lakehouse that you can have your ceremony, and all are lovely. If there are just the two of you and witnesses then you may well opt for the quirkiness of the tiny boathouse on the lake shore. With changes to ceremony laws you can now marry outside on the decking. This offers a beautiful range of photos opportunities throughout.

After your ceremony you can enjoy tip top quality refreshments and we can take a wander around the grounds for your photos. You can see from the slideshow above that these are beautiful in all weathers and all seasons. I particularly love the twinkling fairy lights of the boathouse on a foggy winter’s day! A trip out in the little rowing boat is always popular too. I love how different this always looks in photos. Getting in and out of the boat is always great for some candid shots too!

Your options for the evening dining are also varied. You can head to their Michelin-starred restaurant or the stunning, super popular Gilpin Spice. The latter has an open kitchen serving tapas-style pan-Asian dishes inspired by countries along the spice trail. Throw in some spa treatments and your very own hot tub and you’re pretty much not going to want to leave this magical place!
