FAIRBANK BARN WEDDING: EXCLUSIVE USE LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING VENUE
If you’re considering a Lakeland barn wedding venue you’re probably quickly discovering that there are a lot of options to choose from! We’re lucky to have many fabulous barn venues, and when asked for recommendations Fairbank Barn is always one of my top choices.
From a photography point of view it has many plus points. Firstly everywhere is cosy, clean and finished to a super high standard. Even in the middle of summer it can be a chilly, wet, windy day in the Lake District, so ensuring the comfort of you and your guests whatever the weather should be at the top of your list.
Secondly, you have the benefit of spacious luxury accommodation on site. I can’t tell you what a difference this makes. You might think you’d be fine with not staying on site, but trust me, you’ll really appreciate being able to grab some time to freshen up, go to your own nice bathroom (especially if you have a large, complicated wedding dress on!) and just take 5 minutes away from it all. With their package extending to 2 nights it also means you can really make the most of the time with your nearest and dearest.
One of the other great features of Fairbank is the separate ceremony space – in a characterful, typically Lakeland “Shippon”. This really helps not only with the variety of backdrops for your photos, but also with logistics on the day. Your suppliers can focus on getting the larger barn laid up ready for your speeches and meal with plenty of time – no stressful quick turnaround required – so you can ensure everything looks perfect.
Finally, I think one of the sure signs of a great wedding venue is how it feels after you’ve shot a few different weddings there. Do they all feel quite formulaic and similar, or is there space for creativity and individuality? At Fairbank Barn it’s definitely the latter. This is partly down to the way the spaces have been carefully developed – retaining character but also being a blank canvas. It’s also due to the friendly, approachable, laid back manner in which Clare and her team run the venue. They are open to your ideas and very flexible with which suppliers you wish to use and how you’d like to structure your day. When you live and work on a farm with 70 beef cows, 300 sheep, 6 chickens, 2 sheep dogs and two young sons you’ve got to be good at going with the flow!

We’re currently both still at Fairbank, sat on the little sofa in the bridal suite, absolutely gobsmacked and weeping (both of us!!!) at how incredible these preview photos are.
