I absolutely adore photographing weddings like this. I love the variety of having a few different locations – up the mountain, down in the village, a cosy dark church, a vast open space – it really allows me to play with all my kit and skills to the max. It’s funny how enquiries and bookings pan out, and for one reason or another I hadn’t been available for any of the enquiries I’d had for the Coniston Coppermines for what felt like years! I was so happy when I found I could be available for Ryan and Suse, and what a fabulous return to this special venue it was.

Now let’s talk about roads. I don’t do motorways. Not at all. I’ll accept being passenger but very, very rarely drive on them. Give me a steep mountain single track though and I’m in my element! I’ll happily bob up and down to the Coppermines in my little Fiat 500 no problem – I love this kind of driving, it’s what I was raised on! Even if you’re not keen on the drive, the views that greet you at the top are incredible and well worth it. Coniston Coppermines really is the most remote, wild, rugged and stunning venue in the Lakes – you are quite literally up in the fells.

Ryan and Suse opted for a church wedding back down in the village at St.Andrews Church Coniston. A pretty, Lakeland church right in the centre of town. They arranged for parking at The Ruskin Museum which worked great. I always love a church wedding because not only do I like a hearty sing, but it’s good for energy levels to get your guests moving around different locations – I always find these moments are packed with great candid photo opportunities.

After the ceremony it was back up the hill for the reception. Suse, who is an incredible knitter, had made all sorts of treasures for herself and her attendants – they really were incredible and future heirlooms I’m sure. Ryan is a pilot and they took inspiration from this for their decor in the marquee, which worked brilliantly. After a fantastic meal and speeches we had just enough light left for a few twilight wedding portraits in the pretty drizzle, before the partying began. I have never seen such a bizarrely wonderful first dance in all my wedding days! Can you guess the tune?!

If you are looking for a photographer Tiree is the answer.

Neither me or my husband are fond of having our photo taken but the photos that we got back are stunning, there are pictures where I can’t believe its us as we look like movie stars. All of our friends and family have loved our pictures as well.

She was also great in the ‘moments you don’t see on social media’ when the stress of the day takes over. She got me a glass of water and took the two of us off to have some amazing photos together.

Thanks Tiree you were the best!
