Askham Hall Wedding – Jewish and Christian Fusion Ceremony

Naomi + Zak planned their Askham Hall wedding with so much love, attention and creativity. It was a fun PACKED schedule of a day – they even had two ceremonies! After a busy, lovely morning of Naomi getting ready with the girls and Zak enjoying his Tisch with the guys, it was soon time to head over to the barn.

For their first ceremony, Naomi and Zak had worked with their celebrant Richard to carefully fuse together elements of Jewish and Christian wedding traditions. The barn was beautifully decorated, with the focal point being a wooden Chuppah ornately covered in stunning blooms by The Floralistas. I couldn’t quite get my head around all the planned comings and goings up and down the aisle, but knew it didn’t matter. I feel relaxed enough to capture these things however they unfold! After their vows, signings and shattering of the glass it was then time for everyone to head back over the the Hall.

A small number of us peeled off to “do the legal bit” with a second ceremony, before then joining the rest of the party. The weather was, well, pretty awful to be honest! The rain did ease enough for us to do group shots in the sheltered courtyard and we had great fun with them. Happily, Naomi and Zak were super willing to walk around the gardens for portraits. It’s always a relief to work with a couple who are too happy to notice the rain!

Tip top energy levels continued right through into the evening celebrations. Everyone enjoyed heaps of food and drink and great speeches. Sparklers shimmered and then we all went back in for THE DANCING. Have you ever experienced Jewish wedding dancing? Well, it is off the scale in terms of energy and enthusiasm! it is also, at times, slightly terrifying! So much fun to photograph!
