Wild Autumn Elopement Wedding, Windermere and Kirkstone Pass

Emily and Jason chose to elope at the stunning Storrs Hall Hotel in Windermere. Emily had a relaxing morning getting ready in their spa suite. The lovely Ely helped her with hair and make up and when I arrived Emily was looking radiant and just a little nervous!

After an intimate ceremony over in the hotel and drinks in the bar, we headed out down to the Lake. There was a definite winter chill in the air, but it was beautifully clear and the light was gentle and pretty. I love this time of year in the Lakes when autumn in just beginning.

It’s perfect to do a little loop of a walk for portraits at Storrs Hall. Within around 20 minutes or so you can cover so many nice backdrops. The wooden jetty always makes for lovely shots with the lake sweeping down to Ambleside and the fells in the back ground. The woods are always magical and also provide a bit of shelter from rain when needed! Then of course there is the Temple of Heroes. This is such a unique feature and always has interesting light – though it is usually super windy here too as the breeze whips down the lake!

Emily and Jason really wanted to make the most of the Lakes in the wedding photos, so extended their coverage to allow time for us to pop up to Kirkstone Pass for some additional shots. It takes around 20 minutes to drive here from Storrs Hall. Once you reach the top of the Pass it is very easy to access great photo locations from the two car parks. It looks like you’re in the middle of nowhere with very little effort involved – always useful in a wedding dress!

I left Mr+Mrs Russell to head off in their new van back to Storrs and then off on honeymoon. Such a lovely couple!
