The Tithe Barn – Bolton Abbey Wedding Photography
Two years of Covid reschedules and one utterly gorgeous baby later, and it was finally time for Vicky and Hou’s wedding day! This wedding was my very last of the many, MANY Covid reschedules and it couldn’t have been more worth waiting for. It was such a pleasure to spend the day photographing such lovely , grateful, fun people in such a magical setting.
Being Lake District based I’m no stranger to a barn wedding, but this was my first time all the way “down south” at The Tithe Barn! I don’t know this area well at all but by heck it is beautiful!
The girls spent a happy morning getting ready at The Devonshire Arms. This lovely hotel is just a very short drive from the Barn. The distance is precisely the time it takes to eat one half of a chicken wrap. I calibrated this twice just to be sure. There were plenty of lovely corners for photos at the hotel, both portraits and detail shots. I spent my time between here and the Barn, where I grabbed some images of their lovely decor as well as some portraits of the boys.
Overlooking Bolton Abbey ruins, The Tithe Barn is right out of a fairytale. Dating back to the 16th Century it has a ridiculously impressive vaulted ceiling, with exposed wooden beams and stone walls. It is all magically lit by the impressive chandeliers and many candelabras.
Add to all this rustic charm some ridiculously good food and drink, a huge space for dancing and a beautiful outdoor area with fire pits and fairy lights and you’ve got everything you could ask for! Oh no wait, I forgot to mention that the huge barn doors are beautiful too and perfect for group shots in any weather, always a relief for a photographer!
