Exclusive Use Venue: Summer Elopement in the Lake District

I love a Paddock Barn wedding, not least because it’s literally 5 minutes’ down the road from where I live! We know Megan and her family well (and lovely Lee of course!). Having grown up in the area together our paths have crossed a few times over the years!

I actually met Steph and Matt years ago. They are also friends with Megan and Lee and were helping out on the bar at one of the first big weddings that they hosted at Paddock Barn way back when. Anyway, fast forward to 2022 and we were all back in Crosthwaite, this time for their tiny elopement wedding.

You couldn’t have a more simple, perfect ceremony. Just the three of them and their friends as witnesses. It was a sunny but blustery day, and the beautiful whitewashed barn kept us all sheltered for the vows. After a glass of fizz we headed out into the wilds to make the most of the lovely long summer grass. Paddock Barn enjoys some of the best views of the Lyth Valley. It’s actually quite unusual to have such an open, sky-filled vista in the Lake District – it’s normally crowded with bigger hills! If you are ever in the Lakes in late spring then a trip to the Lyth Valley is a must. It is filled with ancient damson orchards and they all spring into the most beautiful frothy white blossom.

After a little loop of the lovely grounds, Megan and Lee babysat while we took a short trip to Whitbarrow. There are quite a few options for very different portrait backdrops within a short drive of this venue. Although it’s not vital to get off site, if you have the time it can really add some variety to your wedding gallery.

Once we had returned, I then left them all to head up to the Masons’ Arms for more champagne. Perfect!

My elopement packages start from just 90 minutes and you can find out about pricing here.
