Having both grown up here in the Lyth Valley I know Megan and her family well (and now the lovely Lee as well!) I feel like we’ve been on our wedding journey together in a way, having both worked on our earlier ones together many years ago and now as seasoned pros!

Anyway, if you’re looking for a rural barn venue in the Lakes then you should definitely check out Paddock Barn. The Lyth Valley is, still, a bit of an undiscovered gem and that’s why we live here! Just 15 minutes from the hive of activity that is Bowness, it’s beautifully quiet with wide open views. In late spring the valley turns frothy white as its ancient damson orchards fill with blossom. I also love this venue in the height of summer for its long grass which catches the wind perfectly as it sweeps up the valley. It is a very special place.

Megan and Lee and their family have all worked super hard over the years to keep improving this fab venue. Every time I visit there is a new addition to their offering. If you’re having a large wedding you’ll need a tipi or marquee – which they have the perfect place for. For small and medium sized celebrations they have two great spaces indoors. There is the beautiful whitewashed barn (unusually light for a Lakes barn!) and then the cosy dining/bar area – perfect for your wedding breakfast and dancing.

Although it’s not vital to get off site for portraits, if you have the time it can really add some variety to your wedding gallery. There are quite a few great options within a short drive of this venue. Having lived here for almost 40 years I am fully qualified to advise you!
