Cartmel Priory Wedding with Glamorous Black Tie celebrations at The Laura Ashley Belsfield

A Cartmel Priory Wedding is not something I get to shoot that often, but it is a real treat when I do! The Priory is such a beautiful, grand building – quite unusual in an area that tends to have more tiny country churches! Fun fact: my in-laws used to run The Priory Hotel next to it and were in The Good Food Guide!

Olivia and her bridesmaids got ready at the Lyth Valley Inn, then headed down the valley for the Cartmel Priory Wedding.

After confetti and congratulations outside the church we popped back inside to do a few portraits. When it’s a super bright day I like to find somewhere with gentle light, and this was perfect. After a few photos it was time to make the journey to The Belsfield to continue the celebrations.

After the speeches and meal we nipped off site again during golden hour. It’s always worth popping to Millerground to get a few quiet portraits down by the lake. It gives a true Lakeland vibe to your photos and the fells make a stunning backdrop across the water.

I love photographing weddings that somehow manage to successfully combine film star glamour with the wildness of the Lake District. Olivia and Iain certainly achieved this, with a day that oozed black-tie style and class but also felt natural, wild and fun.

Thanks for having me guys, what a beautiful and happy day it was!
