At every point in the year I seem to think “THIS is the best time of year for a Cragwood Just Us Elopement”! The truth is, there isn’t a bad time of year to get married at Cragwood – it really is one of those venues that is just beautiful in every season.

I’ve got to say though, a crisp December day with perfect gentle winter sun is definitely up there punching!

Winter weddings are great because everyone’s weather expectations are always lower than they are in the summer. Katie and Dan however were blessed with a perfect winter’s day. I love the colours at this time of year, they’re so muted and soft, allowing the subjects in your portraits to really pop.

We all enjoyed a cosy family ceremony with their two adorable boys. The festive decorations twinkled behind them for the photos which worked perfectly. We then got cosied up in coats and headed down to the lake shore for those must-have Cragwood Boathouse photos. We had the whole place to ourselves, crunching around in the frosty woods and looking for Lake Monsters off the jetty!

Before long little noses were getting chilly and red and it was time to head back up to the hotel, trying to be quiet enough to spot deer on the way back up! I left them cosy by the roaring fire excitedly waiting for the magical afternoon tea. What a perfect little festive family wedding. Thanks for having me Katie and Dan!
