2017 was a BIG year of awards for me, and as much as I hate the sound of my own trumpet I'm going to tell you about them!
Early in 2017 I had two images selected for the finals of the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2017, the world’s leading food photography and film awards. They were featured in an exhibition at the Mall Gallery in London which celebrated all aspects of food in culture across the globe.
A few months later I secured a first place win in the babies and children category of PDN Faces - hosted by US based photography magazine Photo District News. The magazine has been covering the professional industry for over 30 years, and recognises powerful portraits. My image, which is of my daughter Summer at Barkbooth nature reserve will be published alongside the other winners in the January 2018 copy of the magazine, which has a readership of 460,000.
Most recently, I also reached the final of the fiercely contested Guild of Photographers Image of the Year Competition. The Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers and each year it runs an on-line monthly photographic competition. JUST 12 images go forward to the annual Image of the Year Final, and my image will be featured alongside the other winners whoop whoop!
This month I will also be shortlisted at the the Society of Wedding and portrait photographers ‘Photographer of The Year 2017’ awards.
It’s a huge honour to have had my work recognised by PDN, Pink Lady, The Guild and The Society – all of which I have great respect for. I’m so lucky to be able to do a job that I absolutely love -one that allows me to spend lots of time in the amazing surroundings of home in the Lakes as well as being able to document my travels further afield.
Here's to 2018 and even more champagne! :)
