Frances and Mitch re-create history at St.John's Silverdale and Cragwood Hotel

Frances and Mitch couldn’t have been luckier with the late summer weather they had for their September Lakeland wedding.

The day began at Frances' family home in Silverdale, where it was great to catch up with the lovely Katie Simpson working her magic on the girls’ hair.

We soon made the short journey to St.John's Church, Silverdale, particularly special as Frances’ parents had married there 39 years ago - and there was a special request to recreate the family wedding photo in front of the impressive church doors!

After the ceremony the wedding party set off to Cragwood Hotel in Windermere - one of my favourite venues, not least as we celebrated our own wedding there 10 years ago! There were drinks on the terrace, games on the lawn, fabulous speeches and wonderful food. There couldn’t have been a better ending to the day that a dreamy sunset boat trip on Windermere, thanks to Windermere Lake Cruises. If you’re blessed with the right weather a trip on the Lake is such a fantastic way to show your guests more of the Lake District in just an hour.

With the nights drawing in earlier, darkness had already fallen by the time we had all walked back up from the boathouse, but the entertainment was ready, and the dancing was soon underway! Congratulations Frances and Mitch, it was a real pleasure to be part of your special day :)

A few societies have adopted the traditional Western custom of the white wedding, in which a lady of the hour wears a white wedding dress and cover. This custom was promoted through the marriage of Queen Victoria.
